Our Coaching Assumptions

Our coaching method is built around the following assumptions:

  • Context of Change: Every executive goes through stages of development, and the rise to the top requires a larger scope of work done in a context of dynamic change.  To thrive in the C-Suite leaders must expand their capacity and align teams to deliver the strategy.

  • Think:  When executives progress they face multi-dimensional problems and complex initiatives, so they must expand their capacity to think (broader, more integrated, longer time horizon).

  • Work:  As executives progress there are a constellation of skills that must be mastered (strategy, team development, change leadership), so a key part of executive development is skill development which largely happens through on the job assignments complemented by formal training and coaching.

  • Relate: Executives work in an interactive social environment so they must develop more sophisticated ways of relating to others with a greater emphasis on influence, and leading from values. This requires the sharpening of leadership behaviours that help align others around a common purpose.
